MY EXPERIENCES AT SCHOOL

By: AVIWE MALGAS (Masiyile high school grade 8)

I am happy in the morning when I wake up to go to school. I usually meet my friends and then we chat but when I am in class I sometimes get bored because my classmates can be mean sometimes like they always think the worst about me and I feel so bad and disappointed. My friends are bad some days ‘cause they like attention which is what I don’t like about them. My father helps me because he’s supportive and I feel good which is why I don’t want to disappoint him.

Me as AVIWE I don’t always listen to what people have got to say about me even though they say things like I am “NERDY’’, but I know I am nerdy in my own way of #self-adoration#.  I believe that ‘’Life is good if you have a good reputation cause reputation describes who you are.”

If you believe in your self every thing will go well for you ‘cause your self-concept is in a perfect way to ‘’BE THE CHANGE YOU WANNA SEE IN THE WORLD.” Us girls can’t face ourselves sometimes because we always think that we are not ‘’’good enough.”

My teacher always inspires me because of the life she faced during her teenage life is just like mine and that is good ‘cause I can see that it’s not just me who had this life as many people do. My friends also affect me positively because they always keep me going telling me not to give up. I like it when they do this because   it’s good to have friends who don’t stab you in the back but are there to always wipe away your tears when something is wrong. People sometimes think they are better than you but you are just like them without that emphasis you’ve got.

So in the words of Jill Scott, I choose to “live my life like it’s golden’’ because I want to enjoy my life while it lasts.

I loved reading your piece Aviwe. You seem so self secure and assured. It’s awesome that you’re so aware at such an early age. May you always remember that YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH. In the words of James Baldwin, your crown has already been paid for, all you have to do is wear it. Shine, keep being “nerdy” and don’t give up on your dreams :)
